Antimicrobial agents are substances that cause death or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms. They can be produced by fungi or bacteria, nowadays be fully synthesized by the pharmaceutical industry. Are among the most used by physicians in their offices drugs, health clinics and hospitals.



Penicillin, the first antibiotic to be used on a larger scale, was accidentally discovered by Alexander Fleming Way (photo) in 1928. He worked to cultivate a type of bacteria called 

Staphylococcus aureus, grow further study and analysis. Noted a fungus colony became one of these tips culture and noticed that where the mushroom colony and around you was, there was no growth of bacteria that have developed physician. Al was the beginning of the antibiotic era.
